About

Background

As San Bernardino County continues to grow, new development and infrastructure can add vehicle travel to the region’s transportation system. The SBCTA VMT Mitigation Bank Program provides a regional approach to help eligible projects offset these impacts by supporting programs that reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) elsewhere in the county.

The GoMoneyMiles program is one way the VMT Bank generates verified VMT reductions. Eligible participants can be compensated for reducing vehicle travel, creating VMT credits that projects may purchase to help meet their mitigation requirements. As the Bank expands, additional VMT-reduction programs and strategies may be added, helping support regional growth while reducing traffic, expanding transportation choices, and rewarding participants for traveling differently.
